My company and credit vendor do not sell customer information.  If you are getting unwanted calls or mailers, go to this link at the Federal Trade Commission.

If you want to opt-out of pre-screened insurance mailer solicitations, go to this link.

You may have heard of credit breaches this past year through Equifax and other large credit providers.  There is a way to protect your identity and that is to freeze your credit file.  This means when some entity pulls your credit, you will be notified immediately and will need to give your authorization.  Equifax recently provided a free credit freeze service called "Lock & Alert."  This allows you to lock and unlock your credit file for free either on-line, by smart phone app or toll free.

What this means is that any 3rd party cannot see your file until you provide express permission.

This is similar to obtaining a security freeze that many consumers undertook in the aftermath of the security breaches reported.  With Equifax though, it is free and convenient.  I anticipate the other two bureaus to follow this in the near future.

Get a credit card without a credt score.  This will help you obtain a FICO score.
